The IAWPC Day of the Dog took place on March 1, with thousands of animal lovers around the world engaging with our day of solidarity and action.
People who have been shocked and outraged by news of Morocco’s street dogs killing ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2030, took part by walking 5k in countries including Morocco, England, Scotland, Belgium, USA, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, France and Malaysia.
All money raised from the event is going into an emergency fund, so that we can provide veterinary care to dogs who have been left for dead in the streets.
Debbie Wilson, lead campaigner at the IAWPC, which is calling for an immediate end to the inhumane slaughter of street dogs in Morocco, said: “Day of the Morocco Dog was amazing, and as a small team here at the IAWPC it was wonderful to see the huge amount of support for the campaign, both from within Morocco and around the world.
“The Day of the Morocco dog was a chance to raise our voices, shout, walk, run and cry together. Children, adults and dogs alike took part, we will not be silent.
“We would like to express our deepest thanks to the amazing global community of animal lovers who took part.”
